Welcome to Whirley Curls, the first curl-specialised salon for kids in Sydney!

We focus on bringing out the best in your child’s natural curls. Located in the heart of Redfern, just a short walk from Moore Park train station, we’re dedicated to children up to 14 years old with curly, wavy, or textured hair. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, we understand the unique needs of curly hair and are passionate about helping every child embrace their natural hair. 

Our expert team follows the curly girl approach, using the dry cutting technique to ensure each cut respects the natural shape and fall of the curls. This method allows us to create customised haircuts that are as unique as your child’s hair, all while trimming just the right amount for a healthy, bouncy look. We’re here to make sure every child feels confident and proud of their curls.

 We’re dedicated to helping you and your child care for their curls in the best way possible. Embracing natural curls can sometimes feel like a confusing journey—what products to use, how to style and maintain healthy curls, and how to keep frizz under control are just a few of the common concerns parents have.

That’s where we come in! Our team is here to guide you through the process, teaching you how to manage, style, and care for your child’s beautiful curls with confidence. To make things even easier, we offer high-quality products designed specifically for curly hair, so your little one’s curls stay soft, healthy, and full of life.

For our younger audience (up to 7 years old), we do not recommend the hydration and style service, as it can be a lengthy process (around 1 hour 30 min). Instead we offer expert advice on how to wash and care for your child's hair at home, along with product recommendations to keep their curls healthy and manageable. 

Children ages 7 and older are welcome to book the hydration and style service. However, please keep in mind that they will need to be able to sit still and remain patient for the mentioned time to ensure the best results.

Please note, we do not offer barber services. If your child's haircut includes shaved sides or a fade, we cannot provide this service.

Before your appointment, please follow these important steps below:

• Their hair must be washed (either the day before or on the day) and completely dry at the time of appointment, either air-dried or diffuse-dried. Wet or damp hair makes it difficult to achieve an accurate cut.
• Their hair must be fully detangled. We won't be able to accommodate the extra time needed to detangle the knots and tangles, and don’t want to make the process uncomfortable for your child.
• If possible, avoid using gel, mousse or products containing oils or shea butter, or use them sparingly. 
• Try to avoid tying or pinning the hair back after washing it, as these can affect the natural curl pattern.
